SME-Week workshop for SMART INNO Project entitled:
Support for Business Angels and funding of Start-Ups
The two-day workshop entitled Support for Business Angels and funding of Start-ups, successfully took place on 22 and 23 December 2015 in the premises of InnovAthens at Technopolis of Athens and was organized by ATLANTIS Consulting S.A with the cooperation of the NGO ERFC, within the framework of the SMART INNO project of the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme <<Adriatic 2007-2013>>. A total of more than a hundred representatives of the business and investment field attended the two-day event.

The first day, December 22nd, was dedicated to new forms of support and funding for start-ups and new businesses. The presentations and discussions, which took place with the participation of representatives from the Greek financial, investment and business sectors, focused on the services and capabilities that the Networks Business Angels, Incubators, Collaborative Spaces, Accelerator Programs for Start-ups and smart inno’s new Electronic Platform (www.adriaticinnovationhub.com) provide to new businesses as well as start-ups. The creation of the Adrion Business Angels Network covering all of Greece was also presented. Adrion BAN is managed by Atlantis Consulting S.A and has already made the first participation of 300,000€ in a business operating in the health IT sector.
A workshop was held in a special session for the preparation of start-ups in order for them to present their case to Business Angels and venture capital representatives.
On the second day, on December 23rd, a Business Angels Forum was organized where eighteen start-ups and new business teams presented their business plan to Business Angels, representatives of venture capital funds and corporate Investors. The two-day workshop was closed with the award of the best business plans after an evaluation based on criteria of investment readiness, innovation, and commercial perspective. The six awards were received by Tipster11, Wadja, Athlenda and Brite Hellas (3 awards).
